DIY: Mini Cards Tutorial

Today I'm sharing a quick and inexpensive way to make personalized mini cards. I love sending out a quick handwritten thank you note with all orders from my shop, and mini cards are great for this! Making them myself is an added personal touch, and as a bonus, can be really inexpensive. Read on for how I made the above cards...

what you'll need:

Most of the materials I used above (except for the circle punch and the patterned paper) are leftovers from making my wedding invitations and thank you notes:

• Cardstock (It will be even easier if these are already folded into cards.)
• Paper cutter and/or scissors
• Various stamps and ink pad
• Glue
• Patterned paper (If you dig around the clearance bins at craft stores, you can find some real bargains! I got a 12 pack of the patterned paper above for 25 cents.)
• Circle punch (I got mine a few months ago from Joann's during a 50% off sale... sales make everything possible, am I right?)

what to do:

There are really no hard and fast rules for making these! My goal was to get as many cards as possible out of the cardstock I had left over. Generally, I was able to make 2-3 mini cards from every 3.5 x 5 inch card I had.

For a few cards, I simply cut down the cardstock to 2.5 x 2.5 inches and glued on a circle I'd punched out:

For others, I cut out small shapes to glue onto the card, and used my stamps:

This last design was a little time consuming (it's hard to glue such small strips to a tiny card!) but I like the effect of the patterned stripes:

There are countless designs to be made! And so far, I've only used about 2 sheets of my patterned paper... this is a great way to make cards on a budget. I'm excited to send these out with orders, along with my new business cards that arrived from Vistaprint. As I posted about here, I got these Vistaprint cards with a Groupon... how thrifty am I?! :)

Now it's time to get knitting so that I can send these babies out! Today I'm filling some orders for my Mason Jar Centerpieces and a slouch hat. I may even get this cowl done before I have to go to work...
